Where seabed conditions are in deep water and generally consisting of soft to stiff  clay layers In-situ testing can be performed by Bluestone Offshore by use of a seabed unit .

The following in-situ tests can be performed up to 50 meters depth in waters up to 2000 meters deep:

The Roson APB seabed unit being lowered through the Greatship Maya moonpool

  • Piezocone Penetrometer Testing ( PCPT)
  • Seismic Cone Penetrometer Testing
  • Vane shear Testing
  • T-Bar Testing
  • Ball Penetrometer

The data collected allows for the following interpretation to be performed

  • Soil stratification
  • Soil Type
  • Shear strength parameters
  • Soil Density and in-situ stress conditions

Seabed mode testing and sampling is performed by a Roson APB seabed unit with the following specifications:

  • Push/pull capacity 100 kN.
  • Cone/rod area 10 cm².
  • Real time Data acquisition
  • Pressure compensated cones for deepwater work.
  • Weight adjustable 4, 7, 9 or 12 tons
  • Dimensions base plate 2190×2690 mm².

Communication to the Roson APB seabed unit  is via umbilical cord. Data can be retrieved and interpreted in real time allowing preliminary assessment and interpretation of data as it is acquired to assist in evaluation whilst testing equipment is in position.
